Business Information Technology is my day-to-day vocation. As a Senior IT Manager, I oversee the firm's technology systems, ensuring they run smoothly, securely, and align with business goals. My role includes managing IT staff, maintaining hardware and software, troubleshooting, implementing upgrades, and ensuring data security. I collaborate across departments, develop strategies for improvement, and ensure regulatory compliance—all while supporting 180 users with a focus on innovation and efficiency.
Software
I have extensive experience with a wide range of software and tools, including: VMware vSphere, Microsoft 365, Office 2019, Windows 11 deployment and management, Active Directory, Windows Server (2012–2022), Microsoft Administrative Tools, CCH ProSystem fx, CCH Engagement, Veeam Backup, Google Workspace, MySQL, NinjaOne, ConnectWise, PowerShell scripting, Snipe-IT asset management, Sophos security solutions, and DUO two-factor authentication (2FA).
Networking
I bring strong networking skills to the table, with hands-on experience in LAN and WAN technologies, Cisco switches, CAT cable wiring, and office and VOIP phone systems. I’m proficient in managing and configuring VMware vSphere, RDWeb, and Group Policy Objects (GPO). Additionally, I am CompTIA Network+ certification-ready, showcasing my comprehensive understanding of networking principles and best practices.

I started at my current company as the IT Administrator and Web Designer, where I honed my web development skills. I’m proficient in HTML, PHP, CSS, and MySQL, with working familiarity in JavaScript, XML, and JSON. I also have experience with content management systems like WordPress and Drupal. Over the years, I’ve created several websites—including this one—balancing functionality with design to deliver user-friendly experiences.
Home Brewing
Home brewing is a hobby I enjoy because it blends attention to detail, science, and creativity to craft something others can appreciate. With my art background, I particularly enjoy designing custom labels for each batch, adding a personal and artistic touch. I even created a satirical website, carrollbeer.com, to showcase the lighter side of the craft. For me, it’s all about the challenge—the results are just a bonus.

I grew up in the mountains and hills of Upstate New York and studied film and media in college. I spent 10 years working in TV broadcasting before transitioning to business technology in 2012, where I’ve been ever since.
Photography
Landscape photography is one of my favorite hobbies. I have a passion for being outdoors and capturing the beauty of nature around me. For me, photography isn’t just about snapping a picture—it’s about seeing a familiar view through a different lens and finding a unique perspective that others might overlook. I enjoy the patience and attention to detail it takes to get the perfect shot. All of the photographs featured on this website are taken by me, reflecting my love for this art form. That’s why I find landscape photography so rewarding—it combines creativity, nature, and the challenge of capturing something truly exceptional.

I’ve spent a lot of time exploring the world of film and video production—it was my first profession and will always hold a special place for me. While I no longer work in video and my main focus is now on IT technology, it’s still a subject that intrigues me and sparks my creativity.

Video and film production has been a passion of mine since I was a teenager and was my career for 10 years. While my focus now is on being the best IT Manager I can be, I still channel some of that creative energy into photography and occasionally work on marketing videos for my current company. Visual Media
I have a strong background in visual media, with experience using tools like Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Avid, After Effects, Blender 3D, and Adobe Lightroom. I’m also skilled with Adobe Illustrator for design work and Audacity for audio editing. For live or recorded video production, I use OBS Studio. My go-to camera is a Panasonic Lumix, which helps me capture high-quality visuals to bring my creative projects to life.
My Story
I made a leap later in my career, transitioning from broadcast television to information technology. While it might seem like a big shift, it wasn’t really—the two fields share core skills like creative problem-solving and leveraging technology to tackle challenges. In the end, whether it’s technology or art, I am a problem solver at heart. To me, creativity is just another word for problem-solving—finding new perspectives and unique approaches to get more out of less or to resolve issues others can’t, because they’re all looking at it from the same angle. My ability to see things differently gives me an edge in finding solutions, no matter the challenge.
